Some 800 students learned about the importance of having Takaful (Islamic insurance) and understanding the coverage provided. Also present at the event was the principal of SMSB, Nor Ausrah binti Hj Meluddin.

A presentation on Group Personal Accident product was conducted by Awg Ahmad Munaidi Khairi bin Hj Sabtu, Executive Officer of Sales Department from Takaful Brunei Am (TBA). The product offers protection in the event of death and permanent total disablement due to accident. Coverage is 24 hours worldwide with extension of medical expenses and death welfare benefit.

Group Term Life was also introduced to the students.

With a minimum saving period of one year and a maximum of five years, Takaful Nur Savings provides 24- hour worldwide coverage protection against death or total permanent disability worth $10,000. In addition, the applicant may opt for additional coverage for personal additions and or critical illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease, Aorta graft surgery, blindness, cancer and others worth $50,000 and $15,000 respectively.

The Takaful Employee Package focuses on employee benefits, solutions and provides comprehensive Takaful protection on death and /or total permanent disability.
The basic coverage also covers the expenses incurred by the employer such as medical expenses and repatriation expenses worth $3,000 and $8,000 respectively.

Also included is the provision of common law coverage as well as 24-hour worldwide protection. In addition, the Takaful Employee Package fulfils the Workermen’s Compensation Act (Revised 1984).

Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Mohammad bin Hj Daud, the Chairman of the Doard of Directors of Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam Sdn Bhd and Group of Companies in his speech said, ” Takaful is a system of guaranteeing each other based on the principle of ‘At-Tawuni’ and it’s a channel whereby individuals tend to help each other in facing and sharing risks as well as provide ways to reduce the financial burden.”

He also explained the introduction of the Takaful Nur Savings. “Takaful Nur Savings is a Takaful plan created to encourage people of Brunei Darussalam to save. This is at the same time fulfilling His Majesty’s vision for the people of the country to practise a savings culture.”

He added, “Takaful Nur Savings is a Syariah compliant product and works as a short-term savings to fulfil the future financial needs like paying school fees, vacation, retirement savings and others.”

Meanwhile Takaful Employee Package is to protect employers from spending caused by any incidents. The Takaful Employee Package that was offered meet the full requirement of Workermen’s Compensation Act (Revised 1984) whereby employers are complied to pay compensation to the workers who suffer injuries during working hours.

The launching was officiated by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Home Affairs.

Dayang Hajah Mahana Hj Ajak, the Deputy General Manager of Takaful Brunei Family in an interview said, “Takaful Nur Savings used to be Takaful Cahaya Mata. The reason we have reintroduced the product with enhanced packaging is to instil a savings culture as well as protect the participants from illness, death as well as permanent disability.

“Previously the Takaful Employee Package was known as Takaful Domestic Servants and now we have enhanced it to be in line with Workmen’s Compensation Act. Both products comes with 24-hour worldwide coverage,” she added.

Speaking about claims, she urged the public to bring relevant documents on claims and added that it only takes two weeks to complete and process the claims.

The company also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the golf club to help promote its products among the members.

As per its brochure, the ‘Golfer’s Takaful’ policy covers seven areas — personal liability, personal accident and permanent

The event was held at Giant Hypermarket in Tasik Rimba where the road show promotes three of its products, namely Takaful Nur Savings, Takaful Retirement and Takaful Aman.

Promotions such as the Takaful Nur Savings and Takaful Retirement are available offering protection as well as a savings element, which will aid in the participant’s financial future needs.

Also on offer is the Takaful Aman that provides annual protection to the participant and loved ones against death and total permanent disablement and this will help to ease financial burden on the beneficiaries.

The main objective of the TBK is to promote its products and to create public awareness by encouraging the public that it is crucial to be prepared in the early stages.

This is to keep ourselves in a high condition of security financially in some aspects especially when it comes to financial problem and at the same time to fulfill His Majesty’s vision for everyone to practise the culture of saving.

TBK will continually build awareness with hopes that the public will understand about the importance of having Family Takaful products.

Takaful Brunei Am/General yesterday introduced Golfer’s Takaful to give protection for golfers against personal liabilities to the third party and accidental bodily injury while playing or practising golf on any recognised golf course.

The expo aims to promote products and services and to educate and encourage the public in line with the theme of Insurance Day ‘Act Now Secure Immediately’.

The benefits provided under the product are personal liability, personal accident and permanent total disablement, loss or damage to golfing equipment, loss or damage to check in baggage, accidental breakage of golf clubs, repatriation expenses, medical and hospitalisation as well as surgical expenses.

Takaful Brunei Am offers two options of coverage for golfers.

Takaful Brunei Am and Takaful Brunei Keluarga personnel are at booths 14 and 15 to answer queries on products and services and strengthen their relationship with customers.
